Honda’s fifth-generation CR-V has been introduced ahead of the official debut. The automaker decided to release several photos and most of the specifications, so we know almost everything about it. According to the manufacturer, the redesigned SUV is bigger, better and more efficient than the predecessor. It sports more attractive exterior and luxurious interior, but what’s the most important, it gets a wide range of new and amazing technology. These differences between the old and new models are the most evident among the upper trims. The current range-topping model is pretty good, but the 2017 Honda CR-V Touring is simply brilliant, and here is why:
2017 Honda CR-V Touring: Engine Specifications
The new generation CR-V will have two options under the hood, but the top-trim level won’t be available with the base 2.4-liter engine. The 2017 CR-V Touring will use only an all-new 1.5-liter turbocharged mill. It will be capable to produce 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of twist. The same engine is under the hood of the new Civic, but it delivers 16 horsepower and 17 lb-ft less from CRV’s. This means that the drivetrain can easily reach over 200 HP in the near future. In any case, you will be satisfied with the present version without any doubt. The engine isn’t the most powerful in the segment, but the manufacturer promises class-leading fuel economy. As for the gearbox option, there will be just a continuously variable transmission available.
Styling and Equipment
Except bigger wheels, the 2017 Honda CR-V Touring sports pretty much the same exterior styling as the rest of the lineup. The compact crossover looks outstanding from the front, which is because of the longer and more aggressive hood design. In addition, the front fascia gets an all-new grille with chrome treatment. The LED daytime running lights come across the whole range. However, the Touring model features standard LED headlights, as well as a number of interesting and useful things inside.
The cabin of the range-topping model is leather-coated and brings some amazing stuff. For example, there are two memory settings for drivers, which is pretty useful. The navigation system is standard part of the new infotainment system. Same system also includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The new generation CR-V is significantly larger than the predecessor, and this is very important because of the interior space. Both, the front and rear seating are notably roomier, maybe the best in the class. The new seats will also have heaters. The list of the standard features starts with dual-zone climate control, a proximity-key system with remote start, push-button ignition, a sunroof, but it also includes the ambient LED interior lighting, as well as power liftgate, which can be opened via foot-activated sensor.
The Japanese car manufacturer didn’t say anything specific about the safety equipment of the 2017 CR-V Touring. Keeping in mind that the base model gets collision mitigation braking, automatic high-beam headlights, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot warning, we can’t imagine what’s cooking up for the top-dog version.
There is nothing official regarding the starting price of the 2017 Honda CR-V Touring. Judging by its predecessor, we think it will cost at least $34,000.
