2018 Acura NSX Type R: Engine Specs

The future Type R supercar may get pretty similar powertrain as the regular NSX. However, it’s expected to get more power, especially after Ford introduced its own GT vehicle. At the moment, the NSX uses a twin-turbocharged V-6 and three electric motors. The hybrid drivetrain delivers a whopping output of 573 horsepower and 623 pound-feet of torque. On the other hand, the 2018 Acura NSX Type R should get at least 700 ponies strong setup, which isn’t easy at all. The 3.5-liter unit currently produces 500 hp, and this is the limit, but Honda’s engineering team thinks of revising the turbocharging system, which will push the engine for at least 50 additional horses.

Exterior and Interior

We don’t have to be seers to figure out how it will look like the 2018 NSX Type R. The super-supercar will definitely use the existing bodywork with several styling tweaks here and there. Of course, the rear end will sport a typical Type R wing, while the front fascia could get some additional splitters and redesigned headlights. The carmaker could increase air intakes to improve cooling, while the track might be a bit wider. In any case, the vehicle will be very aerodynamic and sharp. As for the interior, the 2018 Acura NSX Type R may get more standard features. The current NSX is pretty handsome inside, but the standard model seems a bit poorer than we expected it would be.
