Honda revealed its 10th generation Accord sedan just a few days ago. The carmaker hasn’t introduced the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid at the occasion, but they mentioned that the car is ready for its official debut, which will happen sometime later this year.
2018 Honda Accord Hybrid Powertrain
According to the Japanese manufacturer, the 2018 Accord Hybrid will rely on the third-generation Atkinson-cycle. The system will combine a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine and a pair of electric motors, which will draw power from the battery placed in car’s rear floor instead of in the truck which was the case earlier. There is no official information regarding the power, yet we are pretty sure it’s going to outmuscle the predecessor. More precisely, the hybrid will feature at least 240 horsepower. At least we hope so.
Interior and Convenience
In any case, it’s very important to know that the 2018 Honda Accord won’t lose any space inside due to the battery. Like we said, the carmaker decided to place it in the rear-seat floor, so the trunk space isn’t cut off at all. Speaking of which, even though the car comes a bit shorter than the predecessor the trunk space grows from 15.8 to 16.7 cubic feet. That’s because the carmaker managed to increase wheelbase a little bit, which has a positive influence on Accord’s legroom as well. From now on, there will be 1.9 inches more in the rear.
That’s not all that’s new inside. No, the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid will get a number of pretty useful features, starting from new 12-way driver seat with four-way-adjustable lumbar support. Both passengers in the front are also getting cooling and heating options, while in the back, the seats will have just heaters. All seats will sport higher headrests, which is good for shoulder support.
The new dash will feature a high-quality and soft-touch materials, with an optional head-up display. The new safety system includes automated emergency braking and lane-departure warning. Plus there is road-departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, and new traffic-sign recognition. Of course, the manufacturer will offer a bunch of optional equipment starting from wireless device charging, Bluetooth, and 4G LTE in-car Wi-Fi, as well as 10-speaker, 450-watt audio.
The 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid will ride on the same platform like the new Civic. The architecture is more rigid and really light, which will help the sedan increase fuel economy. Speaking of which, like we said, the car will be shortened, but it will be wider and lower. This will also have a positive influence on efficiency.
Judging by the information we have, the 2018 Honda Accord Hybrid will be introduced this winter, so it should hit dealerships in early 2018. The price is unknown at the moment.
