Honda’s new Avancier SUV appears not to be for worldwide use. The vehicle has been introduced last year at the Beijing Auto Show and we were pretty sure that the amazing high-riding model could arrive in North America. Well, that’s not going to happen, at least not now. Instead, the 2018 Honda Avancier became Chinese resident and carmaker’s flagship SUV for Asia.
2018 Honda Avancier: Engine Options
Even though the manufacturer revealed the 2018 Avancier as the crossover as a single powertrain option, that’s not quite true. Aside it’s going to use the familiar 2.0-liter, “Sport Turbo,” four-cylinder, the vehicle will add a new base option, most likely a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter mill. Plus, they are reconsidering a hybrid powertrain for the next year. Honda hasn’t announced anything more close regarding the engines, so we can’t really tell you how much power will be able to release. However, we know they will come in a pair with a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Design and Features
Although it won’t be available in North America, we have to admit that the 2018 Honda Avancier is a really handsome car, probably the gorgeous SUV with Honda badge. Yes, it resembles the CR-V, but it’s somehow more attractive, especially in the front. Both mesh grille and LED headlights look amazing, while the bumper and vents in each corner boost the overall impression. Around back, the rear hatch sports a unique design with a pair of C-shaped taillights really cool read reflectors on corners. The reflectors look quite impressive with a pair of the rectangular exhaust. Even though it resembles a little bit, we can; really say that the Avancier represents a true coupe-like crossover. As far as we think, it’s somewhere in the middle with sloped rooflines and roof rails.
Inside, the 2018 Honda Avancier looks really luxurious. The dash is smooth and simple at the same time while the leather treatment over seats, center console, and door panels boosts the overall impression. The SUV sports a conventional instrument cluster with tachometer and speedometer, but it also sports a 6-inch display in the middle. There is also a large infotainment touchscreen that likely comes in a pair with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, and inductive phone charging. The amazing crossover also gets a standard panoramic glass roof and electronic parking brake, while passengers can enjoy in heated and ventilated seats as well. Of course, the Japanese automaker equipped the SUV with best possible safety. More precisely, the 2018 Avancier comes mated to the Honda SENSING suite that includes active cruise control, lane keep assist, rear park assist, and collision mitigation with steering assist.
Like we said before, the SUV will not be available In North America for now. However, if the carmaker decides to sell it here, you will have to set aside around $40,000 for the base 2018 Honda Avancier.
