Although demand for crossovers constantly grows, there are still minivans that can beat the high-riding competition. One of them is the 2019 Honda Odyssey without any doubt. The amazing vehicle has been introduced totally redesigned this year, so there is no chance to see anything new for the next year. Still, we can’t skip the chance to mention the highlights of the minivan, because it deserves standing ovations without any doubt.
2019 Honda Odyssey: Seats, Tech, and Features
No, we are not subjective about this matter. The 2019 Odyssey is better from every crossover of the same size and price range. The Japanese minivan delivers exceptional features inside supported by magical seats plenty of space. Every single three-row crossover gives priority to front and second row of seating, while the third row usually gets the leftover. That’s not the case inside of the new Odyssey. No, unless you want to drive there are no important differences between rows and seating positions thanks to standard Magic Slide seats.
Even though it’s the crucial advantage, the cozy seats are not the only good thing inside. No, the cabin offers a range of useful features and new technologies starting from amazing entertainment available for all passengers all the way to CabinWatch and CabinTalk systems. A new 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection supports a range of apps like PBS Kids, iHeartRadio, and Spotify, while Social Playlist enables up to eight passengers to upload music they want. Instrument cluster hosts a 7.0-inch color TFT screen and an 8.0-inch touchscreen, plus the updated infotainment responds quicker. All seats are supported with heaters as it’s the new steering wheel.
We have to say that we expected more under the hood. Don’t get us wrong, the updated 3.5-liter V-6 is amazing, but we hoped to see something optional; perhaps a hybrid or something like that. Instead, the V6 is the only option. Still, instead of previous 248 horsepower, the new minivan delivers 280 horsepower. Aside it features more power the drivetrain has switched an outdated six-speed auto with a nine-speed or optional 10-speed transmissions. EPA results are not available yet, but the smoother gearboxes in a combination with about 100 pounds lighter body must provide better fuel economy results.
The best part of the 2019 Honda Odyssey will be the starting price. The standard model costs exactly $29,990, which is nothing compared what you get for your family. However, no matter how good the vehicle is, we expect to see the electrified minivan from Honda in the coming years.
