It was just a matter of time before Honda introduces its all-electric vehicle. Even though it made its debut as a concept at the 2017 Frankfurt auto show, the 2019 Honda Urban EV will see the production lines very soon. Moreover, the carmaker has promised the arrival of the production model by the end of the next year.
Judging by the information we have, the anticipation is unnecessary, because there will be not too many differences between the concept and the production model. As far as we think, we would drive the car right away. The manufacturer made a perfect mix of retro design and the latest technologies, so we really like what we see here.
2019 Honda Urban EV: Design and Technology
The 2019 Honda Urban EV won’t look too pretentious, which is the main reason why we like it. The cool car rides on an all-new platform, which makes it four inches shorter from the Fit. Regardless of the fact, the interior provides enough space for all four passengers, though, the front seats are replaced with a bench, which is really odd. Still, the production model will likely get normal front seats. A floating instrument screen is the most impressive detail inside. However, the feature will also disappear (or suffer some changes) when Honda introduces the production model. The wood accent looks really cool and we vote to stay. The Urban sports screens on the upper door panels. These options will stay as they are because they are actually replacing side-view mirrors.
The 2019 Urban EV will keep concept’s exterior displays as well. In case you haven’t noticed, the electric vehicle sports a screen in place of the grille. Plus, there is one similar in the rear. The features are quite useful because thus the driver can display a message to the other drivers.
Power and Range
What we don’t know at the moment is what’s going to power Honda’s upcoming EV. The tiny electric car will get Power Manager which is pretty similar to Tesla’s Power Wal, but that doesn’t explain the most important part of every EV. As far as we think, the car needs not so powerful drivetrain, but it must offer a decent electric range. Unofficially, the 2019 Honda Urban EV should be able to cross from 150 to 200 miles on a single range, but let’s wait for official information.
Arrival and Price
Honda’s small electric car will reach European dealerships in early 2019. The carmaker hasn’t said whether the Urban EV is going to be available in North America, but we are pretty sure it’s going to be available shortly after the European debut. There is nothing regarding the price at the moment.
